Wisconsin Bill 531: Spoofing

Prohibits caller ID spoofing used to defraud or obtain value, with civil penalties ranging from $100 to $10,000.

About the Legislation:

The Bill makes it illegal to knowingly transmit misleading or inaccurate caller identification information in a phone call or text message with the intent to defraud or obtain something of value (including personal information). Violators can face a civil forfeiture penalty ranging from $100 to $10,000.
