CRA Working Group

The CRA (Community Reinvestment Act) Working Group informs ABA policy positions and advocacy on modernization of the Community Reinvestment Act, its implementing regulations, and regulatory guidance. In particular, the Working Group: Identifies statutory and/or regulatory provisions and interpretations in need of clarification or updating; recommends improvements to the CRA examination process and ratings system, including ways to increase the transparency of how regulators determine a bank’s overall CRA assessment rating; suggests improvements to the way that examiners define CRA geographic assessment areas and measure bank CRA investments; and identifies inconsistencies in examiner interpretations and application of CRA requirements. The Working Group also discusses examination experiences, compliance challenges and successes, and leading practices.
