Louisiana HB 211 (Act 21) Enhanced Anti-Skimming Law

Strengthens laws against payment card skimming by increasing penalties for repeat offenders and criminalizing possession of skimming equipment with intent to defraud.

About the Legislation:

HB 211 (Act 21) by Rep. Debbie Villio is LBA-sponsored legislation that modernizes and strengthens the state crime of skimming payment card information (R.S. 14:67.4) by enhancing penalties for repeat offenders (mandatory prison time of at least one year) and including as a violation of the law, possession of commonly used equipment for skimming when there is intent to defraud.
